Developer's Update 7/15/21

One phase of the overhaul has been completed. Specifically, modifying the text display for better clarity and appearance. The default window is as generic as one can get and, given the number of characters in the project, following long strings of dialogue can be confusing. Thus, I have modded the window skin with a nice template from SkottyTV and I have integrated more of Yanfly's scripts to display the name of the speaking character during dialogue to make it easier to follow. Given how the latter works, modifying the existing dialogue events was a slow and tedious process because I had to go through EVERY event with dialogue and manually insert the necessary code to get the name bar to display. As such, I expect a handful of omissions that I will most likely catch during a debug playthrough before the next release (hopefully).

Also, as the pictures show, I am expanding the locations in the game. In retrospect, my attempt to cram everything into one building was sloppy and amateurish. Many locations are getting a dedicated setting both to differentiate it from the hotel and to add more spit-and-polish to the overall game. The two leftmost pictures show the old setup, which is reflected in the last release back in March. The two pictures on the left show the new and improved "Mel's Bar" with the modified text window displayed. While it may seem empty now, it will be populated with NPCs in later builds to give it a living, breathing feel.

The next major overhaul will involve modifying the existing quest structure and related events. This will be another tedious activity and is the one most likely to generate unexpected bugs. Again, I will keep everyone updated as continue getting the next build ready. Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.
