State of the Game and Hiatus

It has been over six months since the last release. The reason for the pause in development is primarily due to me dedicating my time and resources to my collegiate obligations. As I complete my program, I have had to focus my efforts on ensuring that I perform well. Likewise, I have been addressing other personal obligations that have taken away what little time I have had available from development.

As such, development is currently in a hiatus, at least until I finish school, which will be at the end of the summer. After which, I will have more time to resume development on a larger scale.

As far as the state of the game itself, it is in the middle of another overhaul. I am currently revising and expanding the Carnival. The carnival, along with interacting with the clowns, will have interactive events that allow better immersion for the player. At this time, actual minigames are not planned, but you will be able to do things and engage in activities while at the carnival.

Also planned is an overhaul of the fun house and the events within it. When I released the last build, I was not happy with the fun house, which is fairly bland a bit slapped together.  As I have said before, if I am not happy, I cannot expect the player to be happy.  Earlier this year, I discovered the wonderful tileset work of Kokoro Reflections and I am working to integrate this creator's tilesets where applicable to the game. Overhauling maps, of course, takes time.

As said in a prior post, I am also working on writing the main quest events and other side and character quests. While I want to diversify the look of the game, the events and interactive characters are the meat of the gameplay and I require time to write, review, revise and code those events into the game.

I have also received a little feedback regarding some requests for content. I am taking those into consideration to see about adding them to the game. I am not at liberty to reveal those requests at the moment because I do not want to either get hopes up or disappoint players with choices.

I also migrated development over to a new computer, so I am also taking inventory to ensure all of the assets I plan on using are on the new machine so I can continue development without any problems.

The next build is in progress, but it is not in a releasable state.  That being said, this project is NOT abandoned.  Should that unfortunate event ever become a possibility, I would release a statement to that effect.  Despite the hiatus, I will be working on the game at irregular intervals until the end of summer. After which, I should have more time for dedicated development.
